邊緣運算(edge computing)是將人工智慧應用到日常生活很重要的環節,用途包含醫療診斷、穿戴裝置、自駕車等等。相對於將資料傳輸到遠端伺服器處理的雲端計算,邊緣計算少了網路傳輸的延遲,更適合在需要即時處理的應用上。量化可將浮點數(floating-point)神經網路模型轉為bit數小的定點數(fixed-point)模型,可以提升運算效率,並減少存儲空間。而低功耗的藍芽模組(Bluetooth Low Energy, BLE),成為邊緣裝置傳輸資料的主流。本論文中,我們首先提出了一套方法搜索定點數模型位元寬度(bit-width)以及剪裁值(clipping value),降低量化

時造成的精確度損失。沒有引介其他參數和額外訓練過程,甚至可以在平均4 bit底下得到極佳的結果,微調量化後的模型權重後還可以達到相同甚至更高的精確度。為了使視訊傳輸達到藍芽低功耗(BLE)的低傳輸率,我們降低傳輸時的解析度,並使用注視點超解析度影片成像技術(foveated video super-resolution),於邊緣裝置還原回高解析度。本論文提出一個基於卷積神經網路(CNN)的FVSR處理器架構,結合特徵暫存(feature buffer),就我們所知,本論文為第一個使用空間與時域的特徵的設計。利用層融合(layer fusion)架構降低對DRAM的存儲次數,減少耗能以及存儲的延
