The Men with the Pink Triangle: The True, Life-And-Death Story of Homosexuals in the Nazi Death Camps

為了解決Life imprisonment的問題,作者 這樣論述:

For decades, history ignored the Nazi persecution of gay people. Only with the rise of the gay movement in the 1970s did historians finally recognize that gay people, like Jews and others deemed "undesirable," suffered enormously at the hands of the Nazi regime. Of the few who survived the concen

tration camps, even fewer ever came forward to tell their stories. This heart wrenchingly vivid account of one man’s arrest and imprisonment by the Nazis for the crime of homosexuality, now with a new foreword by Sarah Schulman, remains an essential contribution to gay history and our understanding

of historical fascism, as well as a remarkable testament to the resilience of those who experienced the unimaginable cruelty of the concentration camps.

CHAINS is about the imprisonment of the mind, chains of habit. This can be anything from addictions to unfounded fears. They all start as a simple, small experience and then become normal patterns of behaviour. Once they are a part of your life, they are extremely difficult to get rid of. Remember, at the end of the day we choose our own attachments in life. It is the freedom to choose your own path to believe what you want to believe in and also to be your own person.

CHAINS was written based on my personal experience, I hope it inspires everyone to let go of what holds them back. Whether if its your past or other person's judgment of you. Life is about moving on & break free! Till the next one, follow me on my socials below.

LYRICS :
[Chorus]
Freedom is the power to choose our own chains
Freedom is the power to choose our own chains
I got 2 chains, 3 chains, lotta chains
They look at me strange
When I move on to greater things

[Verse 1]
I need more power, why u tripping I need more hours
The time is ticking, shit can turn sour
If you waste it, I done taste it, once complacent
You throw it out the window
Like your ego, start from zero
If u snooze then u lose, so fuck a pillow
I stay woke, working graveyard shifts
25, found a gold mine, Christmas gift

[Chorus]
Freedom is the power to choose our own chains
Freedom is the power to choose our own chains
I got 2 chains, 3 chains, lotta chains
They look at me strange
When I move on to greater things

[Verse 2]
All my chains heavy
But I'm born ready
The cowards never started and the weak remains lazy
The struggle don't make it bitter, all your excuses do
Greatness is a process, listen to the voice within you
What's your occupation, what's your designation
Get a job, get a life, I call that the chain reaction
What's your occupation, what's your designation
Get a job, get a life, I call that the chain reaction

[Speech]
I was once told the chains of habit are too light to be felt
Until they're too heavy to be broken
Change, change is scary but change is necessary
It is for the better or best, never the worse
I say embrace!

In the Shadow of the White House: A Memoir of the Washington and Watergate Years 1968-1978

為了解決Life imprisonment的問題,作者Haldeman, Jo/ Thomas, Evan (INT) 這樣論述:

For her first forty years, Jo Haldeman's life followed a conventional path. While her husband, Bob, built his career in advertising, Jo comfortably settled into her role as mother of four, housewife, and community volunteer. In 1968, Jo's world changed dramatically. Richard Nixon was elected Pres

ident of the United States, and Bob was offered the job of a lifetime--White House Chief of Staff. As Jo and Bob discussed the opportunities and challenges that this move would entail, little did she anticipate the course that her life, and her relationship with Bob, would take over the next ten yea

rs. In this insightful, poignant, and guileless memoir of those ten years, Jo shares her story as the wife of H. R. Haldeman, often referred to as the second most powerful person in the White House. She offers a window into the world of trips on Air Force One, weekends at Camp David, and events at t

he White House, as well as family vignettes and the growing stresses of her husband's demanding job. Then a bungled burglary at the Watergate erupted into a national scandal. The news began to feature the Haldeman name. Blaring headlines and vicious political cartoons accompanied new revelations of

a cover-up. Multiple investigations and Senate hearings followed. Criminal proceedings loomed. Jo's compelling account takes the reader on her journey from the heady heights of Washington life through an excruciating public resignation and trial to her husband's conviction and imprisonment. In a tru

e period piece, Jo illuminates the story of the "woman behind the man" and personalizes the Watergate experience. Enhanced by her personal photographs and the immediacy of her present tense delivery, In the Shadow of the White House is a fascinating work of nonfiction that reads like a novel.

The Effect of Educational Attainment and Educational Exclusion on Youth Crime and Incarceration: A Belizean Context

為了解決Life imprisonment的問題,作者柯晏雅 這樣論述:

Improving the life outcomes of underprivileged and disadvantaged youths is the priority of many governments including Belize’s. While this is so, many young males continue to diverge into the juvenile criminal system. The purpose of this research is to provide a better understanding of two overlapp

ing features: criminal involvement and low educational attainment and how these two are interrelated. The purpose of this study is to find out whether the educational attainment of youths incarcerated factored into their involvement into crime and to identify the challenges that exists within the ac

cess to educational opportunities. Also, this research looks at the school to prison pipeline and conditions relating to educational exclusion to better assess the issue stemming from the rampant rise youth crime and incarceration experienced in Belize over the last 5 years. The motivation for this

research stems from the experience as an educator with the rise of youths out of school, engaging in criminal activities and ending up in prison. The research qualitative in nature utilized the expertise and experience of five persons who are actively engaged in combating the issue of youth violence

and incarceration in Belize. The five senior participants have over five years in their specialized areas and are in contact with the youths at the Wagner’s Facility. The data collection utilized online zoom meetings which were later transcripted and coded using manual thematic analysis and NVivo 1

2. The findings from the data highlighted twelve overlapping themes which were instrumental in answering the four proposed research questions which addressed issues related to educational exclusion, educational attainment, dropout and delinquency and reintegration of incarcerated youths into educati

on. This research will provide meaningful information to guide policy measures, interventions and programs aiming to reduce crime among young people through the supporting of educational inclusion which can in turn positively curb the prison-to- school pipeline.
